Dear Diary,
Today I awoke at six I worked all my looms. To my surprise a visitor came. At once I thought it was Charlie, but no it turned out to be my uncle. He had my sister. He tells me my mother said to a place her in a home that's better for her. He handed me Rachel and left. I stood there astonished. I couldn't believe that just happened. Rachel clung to me for her life and would not let got. I have asked Mrs. Bedlow if she could stay for a while and she has been so kind and agreed for now. After she was feed I brought her up to stay with me because all of my roommates had left I was on my own and had plenty of room.
She slept so soundly but hardly said a word. It's now morning and Mrs. Bedlow has agreed to watch Rachel for the day while I work. The night before I wrote Charlie telling him Rachel was with me but that she could not stay forever so I needed word from him. Later we headed into town to buy Rachel new clothes which cost me a fortune. I was not pleased but I could not say no for Rachel hardly had anything to wear. Its getting bizarre lately I have come down with a horrible fever and have not heard back from Charlie yet. I do not know what happened to me but once I was coming down with my fever Mr. Marsden met me late he kept trying to get closer and closer and right at that moment I made the wrong decision or maybe it was the right, I don't know I was so confused but anyways I stomped on his foot and ran like there was no tomorrow.
Its been two weeks. Rachel has become very close to me. She is always being there for me and helping me with whatever my needs are. They will not let me go back yet but they will not stop me because I need the money and can no longer afford for the care. Yet I still am lying here in bed. I was going to write to Charlie again but instead I received a letter telling me that they are looking at the sale of the farm.I am finally better. Tonight I was putting Rachel to bed when once again I was told I had a visitor. I walked down to the lobby expecting that there would be nobody there but to my surprise It was Charlie! I was so excited. He told me that he was doing fine at school and that the people he was staying with would be more than pleased for Rachel to stay with them. It was a relief but also very sad as I realized I was going to be lonely. He told me he would be back for her in the early morning and I told him I would have her ready. As morning came I received a letter form Luke Stevens but did not dare to open it for I needed to focus on getting Rachel ready.
Charlie came when he said he would and she was gone within minutes. Work got easier since my new friend Bridget was understanding and running three looms of her own. I went to see Diana to tell her about everything that had happened. I also told her that I now wanted to sign her petition. When she told me I could not because she had already sent it I felt horrible but got over it quickly for I had to deal with the news that she told me she was leaving because she was having a baby. In the same night I read the letter from Luke and to my awful surprise he asked me to marry him! I could not believe it. I did not write back.
A few days later I was called to the "office." I was informed that I was being dismissed. Later in the night I packed up my things and headed to Bridget's house to give her my Oliver Twist book for I wanted her to have it knowing she would read it soon. My trip home was very long. At first I was alarmed but I later realized that the very pale women standing behind the counter of the train tickets was Dianna. I was relived to see that she had a job and was doing OK. I also stopped to see Triphena and tell her about my troubles once I left there I headed home, back to say one last goodbye to the farm and to my surprise I saw Luke there he told me her regretted what he had asked. He asked me to stay though but I told him I must go on a live my life he agreed and now I have set off to say goodbye to Charlie and Rachel.
